i soon realized that while his flow is weird and off kilter, there is a confusing charm about it. His wordplay and rhyme schemes were so clever and dense, its hard to even imagine that a human actually wrote it. Thatd be the hour they knock the slick blasterĭick dastardly and muttley with sick laughterĪ gun fight and they come to cut the mixmaster" "living off borrowed time, the clock tick faster i soon looked up the accordion lyrics on genius, and my jaw dropped so far to the floor that im surprised im not fucking impaired while typing this. it was really like something i never heard before. by the end of the album, i was mostly fucking confused, but on the other hand, i was extremely intrigued by the villainous character DOOM was portraying.

i even eventually understood a few lyrics and chuckled at a few bars that i thought were particularly villainous or comical. however, the more i listened, the more i got used to his flow and the more i enjoyed the album. at the time, i convinced myself that i was ready for any type of experimental sounding album, but i definitely wasn't ready for whatever this was. "his flow is so weird", i thought, as i tried to catch all the dense vocabulary and meanings DOOM was throwing at my face. soon, an ominous accordion starts playing and i am immediately catapulted into the other wordly world of MF DOOM and Madlib.

excited, i went through the intro skit and started listening to the first track, "accordion". i was immediately intrigued by the dark and mysterious cover of a masked man in a dimly lit room, along with black text in the corner, showcasing the album title "madvillainy". i heard about madvillainy and MF DOOM through youtube and figured that madvillainy would be a good place for me to start listening to experimental rap. i was new to hip hop and rap and just the whole process of sitting through albums in general. The first time i listened to madvillainy was back in late 2017.
